National debt

To which nations is this country indebted to? Think about it.

Where is the capitalist Achilles heel?

"Controlling our currency, receiving our public moneys, and holding thousands of our citizens in dependence... would be more formidable and dangerous than a military power of the enemy." -- Andrew Jackson

mmm... mmm... not good!

We have all heard by now the refrain of sweet children's voices reciting "mmm... mmm... mm... Barack Hussein Obama". If you're like me the chant plays over and over in your mind. It's a dangerous use of melodious indoctrination for innocent, impressionable young children.
The people of New Jersey have a right, defined by freedom of speech, to participate in this practice in their schools IF THEY CHOOSE to do so. The question on the table is were the parents aware of it? Could the children opt out?
This practice wouldn't be tolerated in my conservative state. However, most of my grandchildren live in a liberal state and I worry that they could be subjected to such propaganda without the consent of their parents.
This form of indoctrination is reminiscent of Nazi Germany or a Saddam Hussein Iraq. It's scary. Should this be tolerated? I say, "NOT IN MY STATE or MY SCHOOLS". But if you want it for your kids, that's your right under the CONSTITUTION.

Censorship

Big Government seems to be at it again.

The Associated Press is reporting that Humana is being censured by the government for sending information to it's subscribers warning of impending cuts to Medicare Advantage relative to proposed Health care legislation.

We ought to be outraged.

Our 1st Amendment rights are being challenged. We cannot standby and allow such censorship by anyone, especially the government.

How much Welfare?

Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution reads, "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imports, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States...

The definition of "general" according to Webster's Dictionary is...
1) involving or applicable to the whole, 2) involving, relating to, or applicable to every member of a class, kind, or group, 3) applicable to or characteristic of the majority of individuals involved, and so on. You get the "general" idea.

In recent months Congress has passed certain legislation to benefit "a few". Did you get help with your mortgage? Did you get to trade your car in for a new one at a discounted price?

I'm NOT saying I wanted to. "Generally" I don't want my family, neighbors, and total strangers to "help" me at their own expense. I'd hate to think that I got a break on my mortgage interest and a reduced payoff of my house at the expense of someone who doesn't even own a house; or worse yet someone else who lives in a lot less house because they sacrifice to pay their bills and save money for a rainy day. I'd hate to think that I got a new car (maybe a third car for our family) purchased by hard earned dollars of someone else who has only one car (and the wife drives her husband to work everyday so she can chauffeur kids around).

Where did it say in the Constitution that we can tax one group and give it to another group? I read the words "common" and "general" for the recipients of tax dollar initiatives. I think that means that everyone who pays taxes would benefit from the initiatives created by the taxes. Where does it say we can "redistribute" the wealth?

So now we're going to take from many (the "general" public) and give to "a few", health care. Let's reread the Constitution. I can't remember it saying, "and provide for the common Defence and "explicit" Welfare of the United States.

Health care is in need of reform. There is no doubt. I'm not saying we should do nothing. I'm not saying we don't have a moral obligation to change things. I'm not sure, however, that it's the role and duty of Congress, or our tax dollars, to do so per the Constitution. If you've read it somewhere, please comment.

As goes Utah, there goes the nation?

Yesterday the US Senate voted to confirm Cass Sunstein as Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Office of Management and Budget (Regulatory Czar).
In recent weeks the voting was blocked and the case was made of the far-left agenda of "Mr." Sunstein.
Yesterday the vote fell almost along party lines, which isn't surprising. The surprise is WHO did cross the line.
The vote was 57 - 40 in favor of confirming Sunstein.

Democrats who voted "NAY" were:
Begick, AK
Lincoln, AR
Pryor, AR
Nelson, NE
Webb, VA

Republicans who voted "YEA" were:
Lugar, IN
Collins, ME
Snowe, ME
Voinovich, OH
Bennett, UT
Hatch, UT

Okay, we understand Lugar. We understand Maine. Utah???????
Not exactly known as a "progressive", "liberal" state????

To all Conservatives and Republicans who fill the state of Utah. LOOK!!!
Wake UP! Your state may also become one of the western liberal dwellings!
Are we in a downward spiral here?

Thank you to the following states who stood up for common sense, conservative principles.

AL, AK, AZ, AR, GA, ID, KS, KY, MS, NE, OK, SC, TN, TX and WY.

H.R. 3226

Yesterday Congressman John Sullivan of Oklahoma called on Congress to reign in the unprecedented appointment of Czars in the Obama administration by subjecting any future appointments to further Congressional oversight. "At least 30 unelected, unaccountable Czars currently work for the Obama Administration, posing a threat to our system of checks and balances in government" he said. Congressman Sullivan is a cosponsor of H.R. 3226, the Czar Accountability and Reform (CZAR) Act of 2009, legislation which would require any additional czar appointments to be confirmed by the United States Senate.

What about the thirty-something Czars already appointed??

Could Be Me

The following is a letter received by Glenn Beck. It was written by a woman from Arizona named Janet Contreras. Although I have never been a registered Democrat, I totally agree with her on everything else. It could be me.

"I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?
Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the STIMULUS bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why -- what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions.. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band-Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try -- please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me..

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.
Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill.. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington . Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic freedom spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when he will rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming."

Keeping a Sense of Humor

A friend of mine posted this on facebook. Sometimes it's better to laugh than cry.

Sounding the Alarm

"The greatest obstacle to being heroic is the doubt whether one may not be going to prove one’s self a fool; the truest heroism is to resist the doubt; and the profoundest wisdom, to know when it ought to be resisted, and when it be obeyed." Nathaniel Hawthorne The Blithedale Romance

How about we confirm those "czars"?

US Constitution, Article II, Section 2, Paragraph 2 reads:

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

According to the LA Times (March 5, 2009), "some lawmakers and outside experts fear that Obama is setting up a system not subject to Congressional oversight. The Democratic Party's own Robert Byrd (D-WV) sent Obama a cautionary letter warning that these advisers are "not accountable for their actions before Congress".

How about we see some confirmations on more than a few of these people? I do NOT believe these persons to be "inferior officers". They are in the White house advising the President on a daily basis.

Below is a list of current "czars" and what cabinet position should/could be handling the job.

Afghanistan Czar: Richard Holbrooke, State Department
AIDS Czar: Jeffrey Crowley, Health & Human Services
Auto Recovery Czar: Ed Montgomery, Labor Dept.
Border Czar: Alan Bersin, Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE)
California Water Czar: David J. Hayes, Dept. of the Interior
Car Czar: Ron Bloom, Treasury Dept.
Central Region Czar: Dennis Ross, State Dept.
Climate Czar: Todd Stern, State Dept.
Domestic Violence Czar: Lynn Rosenthal, Health & Human Services
Drug Czar: Gil Kerlikowske, Justice Dept.
Economic Czar: Paul Volcker, Treasury
Energy & Environment Czar: Carol Browner, EPA
Faith-Based Czar: Joshua DuBois, Health & Human Services
Government Performance Czar: Jeffrey Zients, OMB
Great Lakes Czar: Cameron Davis, EPA
Green Jobs Czar: Van Jones, Labor Dept. RESIGNED
Guantanamo Closure Czar: Daniel Fried, State Dept.
Health Czar: Nancy-Ann DeParle, Health & Human Services
Information Czar: Vivek Kundra, all other departments
Intelligence Czar: Dennis Blair, CIA
Mideast Peace Czar: George Mitchell, State Dept.
Pay Czar: Kenneth R. Feinberg, Treasury
Regulatory Czar: Cass R. Sunstein, OMB
Science Czar: John Holdren, Energy
Stimulus Accountability Czar: Earl Devaney, OMB
Sudan Czar: J. Scott Gration, State Dept.
TARP Czar: Herb Allison, Treasury
Technology Czar: Aneesh Chopra, Commerce Dept.
Terrorism Czar: John Brennan, Dept. of Homeland Security
Urban Affairs Czar: Adolfo Carrion, Jr., Housing & Urban Development
Weapons Czar: Ashton Carter, Dept. of Defense
WMD Policy Czar: Gary Samore, Dept. of Defense or State Dept.

What then?

What then do we need in a health care bill?

1) to preserve the private system.
2) tort reform.
3) insurance available to those who do not qualify for medicaid/medicare; possibly vouchers or a tax credit.
4) a program to educate and retain doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals.
5) Tax incentives to doctors who accept medicare/medicaid patients.
6) Tax incentives to Drug companies who give away/ sell at cost prescription drugs to those who cannot afford them.
7) Catastrophic coverage available to all through insurance companies, possibly backed by the government similar to FDIC for banks. (NOT SURE ABOUT THIS IDEA?)

Any ideas?
Please comment.

Reaction to AARP Bulletin article September 2009

AARP, to remedy the bleeding of seniors leaving the organization by the thousands, recently announced they have yet to endorse any particular health care bill. However, this month's AARP Bulletin's article entitled, "The Assault on Truth" speaks loudly of their ideology which remains contrary to the beliefs of many of it's members.

The article written by Patricia Barry is condescending to many well-informed seniors who have a vested interest in the debate over health care reform. She outlines five questions and tries to discount the "myths" she feels are prevalent concerning the health care reform debate.

#1 Will the government take over health care so we end up with socialized medicine?
AARP: NO

CC(Constitutional Crusader): Although present bills may not use the language, it's obvious that an industry, such as the health care industry, heavily regulated by the government becomes the government's. Once their foot is in the door, it's soon the leg, then the hip, and so on. They now have their foot(or more) in the door in the banking industry and in the automobile industry. Where do we draw the line. We, the people, want to manage health care BY THE PEOPLE.

#2 Will private insurance be outlawed or wither on the vine?
AARP: NO

CC: Private insurance is a great expense to employers. Adding to that the purposed tax upon employers to cover "government health care" would place a burden on employers too great to bear. They would be "forced" to let they private insurance fall by the wayside in order to pay the increased taxes. There own employees then would be "forced" into the "government health care" plan. Logically, why would an employer with health care costs in the millions of dollars keep their employees under a private plan when a "government health plan" was available which they were already "helping" to fund. Fiscally speaking, it's a no-brainer.

#3 Will the government encourage euthanasia to save costs?
AARP: NO

CC: Although I don't believe a government-run plan would intentionally employ this practice (at this time) it's safe to say it would be an unintended by-product.
A friend of mine recently had emergency surgery in Scotland while on vacation. She lay in a ward with three elderly women in their eighties and nineties who had broken hips. They lay in their beds while they waited for their case to have high enough priority to get them into surgery. Knowing how fragile many seniors in their advanced years are, it is logical to surmise that many would lay in bed and die because of the lack of immediate medical care.
Some say, care wouldn't change, we'd have the same care that we do now. There are also intentional by-products. If we infuse millions of new people into the already over-burdened health care system with the same amount of doctors, nurses, and hospital beds, there will be waiting. We already wait days to get into a doctor or are forced into emergency rooms where we wait for many hours.And frankly we already have many doctors and nurses leaving the system due to litigation, overwork, long hours and other reasons. Believe me when I say you will have an increase in the exiting of persons from the health care profession with an increased workload and a cap on earnings (such as Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance already mandate).

#4 Will Medicare be eliminated or gutted to pay for reform?
AARP: NO

CC: Although it wouldn't be eliminated or gutted per se, it would suffer the natural consequences of the entire system aforementioned.

#5 Will the government ration care?
AARP" NO

CC: Covered under #3.

Although we need reform, we do not need a government-run option. Let's keep government out of business and out of our homes.

I loved him then and love him to this day.

NO MORE POWER!

Dear Mr. President,
We, the people, are not going to stand for it anymore. You have bypassed procedure by gathering "an army" of advisers who have NOT been cleared by Congress. You have taken our future earnings by incurring a debt we and our children and grandchildren cannot repay. You have stepped into our private enterprise and taken control. You, in a matter of a few months, have literally changed America. You have changed America in ways we could never have imagined. WE WANT YOU TO STOP! Cease and desist.
We cannot allow you to take control of our life and health. We cannot let you take control of the internet, broadcasting, or any other means of communication. STOP already!
We have learned some, hopefully only a few, of your advisers have Communist, Marxist, Socialist, or Fascist agendas. You continue on your present course and you will have a revolution on your hands, one that you started, but God willing, we will end. We, the people.
You scare me. You, a know-it-all attorney, who knows how to get around the law without notice. We're on to you now. STOP! It's not about race, although some of your advisers believe otherwise. It's not about partisanship any longer. It's about the Constitution and OUR RIGHTS (remember we, the people). You have gone too far already. We, the people, want YOU TO STOP! NOW!
Stop taking from us. Stop setting us up. Stop taking our liberty. Stop taking our future. Your ONLY job right now is to protect us and to protect the Constitution.
Signed,
One of the People

Will we Stand UP?

I REALLY want to go to Washington, D.C.!

BTW, the 9 principles and 12 values stated in the 9-12 project are:

The 9 Principles
1. America Is Good.

2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.

3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington

4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson

5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson

6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson

7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington

8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson

The 12 Values
* Honesty
* Reverence
* Hope
* Thrift
* Humility
* Charity
* Sincerity
* Moderation
* Hard Work
* Courage
* Personal Responsibility
* Gratitude
